Thanksgiving hairstyle!!

Happy (late) thanksgiving to all! Thanksgiving is a time to spend with loved ones and eat a ton of food and pray you still fit into your skinny jeans by the end of the night. For me, the holidays are another reason to get dressed up! Thanksgiving I usually try to wear my bottom half on the bigger side or at least have stretchy fabric. For the days events, I wore black tights, a black leather mini skirt (thank god for extra give in the waist), and a mustard colored peplum top. I was hoping the flair from the peplum would hide any extra bulge.
This past week I've seen Kristen Stewart KILLING it on the red carpet for Breaking Dawn Part 2 premieres. You know the world must be ending when I follow what Kristen is wearing, JK. She can now be considered a style icon in my book. Definitely my most improved of the year! I saw her hair for the premiere and it was slicked on one side and curled on the other. I was/am obsessed and did this look for Thanksgiving. My extent of hair expertise is a pony or messy bun. I am just not capable at doing my hair styles but I decided to tried this look. SO EASY! I took a shower, blowed out hair, and parted it to the side. I put some hairspray to slick it down and bobby pins to keep it slicked. I even twisted the hair of the slicked side and the bobby pins held it in place. Next was just curling my hair. I scrunched it, some were loose, others tight, and it was all sort of messy chic. This is the outcome. Not bad right?! I can add this look to my repertoire. Totally obsessed.

I am thankful for: fashion edition!

Hello and happy Thanksgiving!!
Today is a day to spend with family and be thankful for all that you have. Of course, I am thankful for my friends, job, health and family. But being a 'fashionista' I am also thankful for killer fashion. Fashion is an expression of who we are but it can also make us feel good about ourselves. For this Thanksgiving I can add these things to my list of what I'm thankful for.
* A killer pair of heels. As the saying goes, "the higher the heel, the closer you are to heaven". I am a personal fan of heels, no matter how much pain I am in. There is something quite sexy about those few extra inches and the arch of your heel. Never mined, how they tone your calves and make your booty look ah-ma-zing (three syllables necessary).
* The perfect LBD. A black dress is a staple and will NEVER go out of style. You can dress it up with jewelry, down with a sweater, or edge it up with a motorcycle jacket. You will get wear out of this piece because it is so versatile. Plus, black makes you look skinnier!
* A statement piece. Every girl needs a statement piece of jewelry whether it be a necklace, ring, or earrings. They can make an outfit pop, draw attention to a certain body part, or adds to a simple outfit. Best part, you can find statement pieces in a range of prices.
* A timeless piece of jewelry. For me, this is my Tiffany necklace that has a heart saying "dream a little dream" and an ice skate charm. This piece I have worn almost every day and if I ever lost it I would probably cry. Every girl needs a piece that they can't leave the house without or has a special meaning behind it.
* The bag that holds everything. Being a city girl and bag lady, I need a bag that holds everything from my cell phone to my laptop. You need a bag that can hold all of it without breaking and is still stylish. This is a bigger challenge then it seems so when you find the perfect bag it is a miracle.
* The most comfortable pair of sweats. Yes, I know sweats aren't a fashion statement. However, everyone needs comfortable clothes. If I'm not going out, I stay in my yogas or sweats, no exceptions. I stole a pair of my brothers sweats and I wear them constantly! For the times you don't need to dress up, one may as well be comfortable.

November 11, 2012 Fashion recap

Hello Fashionista's!
I am going to try to do a weekly or bi-weekly fashion recap. It may be a little early, but I want to set a 'new years goal' of trying to stay up with the trends. As Heidi Klum says, "One day you're in, the next you're out," the same goes for trends. I'm going to keep you up to date on what's going on and what's hot. As the business people I commute with are reading the newspaper, I'll be catching up on Vogue & WWD! ;)
*Nicolas Ghesquière has left Balenciaga after fifteen years with the company. One may say that he even created Balenciaga to be the company that it is today. His Spring 2013 RTW collection was amazing (if I do say so myself). From the cutouts of the pieces to the ruffle and geometric shapes of the skirts were breathtaking. The rumor mill is saying his depature is due to finances and how commerically driven the line has become. Some are saying that Nicolas may be starting his own line. He has created a name for himself and his designs are truly inspiring, with some funding I believe he could make it happen. The hot gossip piece, besides Nicolas's departure, is who will succeed him. Rumor has is that the edgy designer, Alexander Wang, is a hot target. Whoever takes his Nicolas's place will have a large runway to fill!
* Alexander McQueen gave us a backstage view of their Spring 2013 collection. McQueen is a designer on my bucket list who I want to own. The Spring collection was no exception! From the veiled headpieces to the bustier tops, it was pure ingenious craziness. For them to show a video backstage lets the outsider, get an inside perspective, on what truly goes on. From trying to get the models dressed to sewing each piece onto a garmet. McQueen shows how fashion is an art form.
* Check out the website https://www.materialwrld.com/account/ .This website gives you the chance to look into CEO's, PR girls, and the fashionable social media girls closet. It was co-founded by Rei Yano & Jie Zheng who went to Harvard Business School. You can even go through these fashion guru's closet to see what they are selling. I love how I can get style inspiration by getting a sneak peak in their closets and even have a chance to purchase some of the items! Fab
*All shopaholics must download this app called PS Dept. This app gives you your own personal shopper inside your phone. (And they say smart phones can't do everything ;) You type in the product you want and it sends it out to every store associate across the country. They let you know the availability of the item and you can either have it shipped or pick it up at the store. Michelle Goad, previously at Marc Jacobs, created this app. During her time at Marc Jacobs, she encountered many sales associates. She wanted a way for the 'girl on the go' to get what they need without having to wait/ drive to the store.
